Travelling in Turkey

Saara´s travelling diary

 Day 1

The morning was a catastrophe! There was just few hour time and we had to do a lot of things! Our grandparents’ dog had to take to walk, we had to clean the house, drive around Espoo, to pay the bills and pack. My parents were really stressed! Anyway, we were in time at the car and our grandmother took us to Helsinki-Vantaa’s airport. We did the check-in and went to security check. Everything was just fine. We bought some sandwiches and started to search our gate – gate 9. When we got there, there wasn’t anything. That was when we realized that my father checked the wrong boarding pass! Our gate was in the other side of the airport and the boarding time was started! We ran from the side to another – with the kids! It wasn’t so nice. Fortunately we were just in time at the gate, but we didn’t have enough time to go to get the coffees from Starbucks (Oh no)!

It was horrible, when the plane got down. It the ears hurt sooooo much! Nikke said that it was the most hurting landing he ever had! We had to change a plane in Ukraine. The airport was really poor, there was just one cafeteria in the whole airport and there wasn’t any nice places to eat. So we bought there some food – like skittles’, water and bread.

It was so nice when we got to Istanbul, Turkey, everyone got really excited. We got our luggage and everything went fine. When we got to taxi, it was funny that we got lost, the driver didn’t have a clue where we should go. Like in Finland if you say some hotel which is located in Helsinki, the driver usually knows exactly where it is. But we got to the hotel after some search. The receptionists were really nice and the hotel room was way nicer than we taught. It was the cheapest hotel room in the centre of Istanbul and by surprise, it looked like it would cost at least 120 euros per night. (It was something like 60 euros per night, yes from all of our family).

Istanbul Airport Stop over Suites Hotel staff is very nice and helpful.  We went to eat kebab and it was fun. Dinner for whole family cost 10 euros. The kebab was really good, especially when we were hungry. The day went good and I hope that we’ll all get good memories from here!

We do not know yet where we are next night. We love to make turn our trips to adventures.
