11 days in Turkey

Day 3

Girls are writing about our holiday in Turkey.

They are practising their english by speaking with people during our journey as well by writing this blog. They told about the first days of the trip on a previous pages: How we spent a day in Istanbul

and started a journey towards south of Turkey. Hotel staff arrange us a cheap car.

Mountain village

We drove almost all day. We left from our hotel at 11 a.m. We drove something like 800 km in one day! It was exiting to drive in the mounteineous roads.

We stopped few times to go to toilet and to eat something. The prices are very low here: In the stops we bought one or two colas and all the kids got an muffin and that cost 4 liiras (1.50 euro). We also stopped in a little mountain village.

Nobody talked English at the village. They were really happy to see us there.  They offered us all tea’s so we sat there, enjoyed life and drank tea.

There were a lot of animals: chickens, donkeys, cats etc.

We also discovered that the Turkish people are really nice.  We drove almost all the day, we stopped just few times. We ate in a nice summer city

and we taught that we could stay there, but Nikke wanted to drive all the way to Marmaris in one day and wake up there. We were at Marmaris something like 21 p.m., but then we had to find a hotel. It took one hour and then we found nice and cheap hotel. Eventhough the trip was long, we were happy that we saw local life and people what you cannot see at the holiday resorts.

Sure we saw and tasted Turkey  much more than most of the people see on the turist areas.

Day 4 at Marmaris

When we woke up I realized it was worth it to drive all day. We put on bikinis and went to pool area. The temperature was perfect, 30 celsius. We tanned and swum many hours. The hotel wasn’t that nice so we packed our bags and went to search for a better hotel.

First we went to lunch. We found nice and cheap place. There was a small turtle going slowly around restaurant floor.

Then we went to many hotels to look inside and ask price. It is not so simple to find hotel for a family of 6 persons.  Finally we found really nice all-inclusive hotel in Marmaris, so we thought that we’d save money when we wouldn’t have to eat out. And now I have to say that the hotel was really great! It was very nice view from our hotel, green big mountains were all around the sea.

The dinners were the best! We all ate really good! At a dinner buffet was good food and  10 meters long table full of deserts, cakes etc.

Day 5 to 11

We spent  next 7 days there. We enjoyed so much for the warm weather, swimming and sun.

Hotels pool area was really beautiful and there were good music and free snack bar from 12 to 17 pm.

It was our first time ever at all-inclusive hotel. We were so excited  having free food all day. We liked a lot to order drinks and ice cream at the pool bar.
Hotel staff were really nice and last days they wanted to bring the drinks straight to the pool to us.

Heidi and Nikke exercised at the gym. Nikke was there every day. All the other time we stayed on the pool or on the beach.

Girls were doing also their school works during the trip. Is there more nicer place to study than this?

In the evenings we went to a walk i the center of Marmaris. One night in the shopping mall, one night at the bazaars in the center or we just looked around the  small shops what was located close to our hotel. Usually after dinner we went to spent time on the lobby. There were every night shows and a minidisco for small kids.

Back to Istanbul

We left the hotel at the 5 am. At the Istanbul we took a bus to center. It was nice to see the Taqsim area of the center of Istanbul.

There were thousands of Turkish people walking in the promenade and shopping in Sunday evening.

Most of the people were really happy to see blond scandinavians. They came to speak and wanted to take photos with us.

The shopping promenade was several kilometres long and full of shops. We spent a whole day there and we bought cheap clothes.

We slept few hours in the same nice Istanbul stop over hotel  than the first night at our trip. Really good price and nice room for a big family. We left the hotel early at 3.45 am to the Ataturk airport.

Lots of headache of losted flying ticket, mobiles, gredit gard and vallet

We started to find a way to get back to Istanbul. It would be to hard to travel again with a car. Nikke booked us a cheapest flight after searching it 2 hours. After couple of days we got e-mail that we don´t have the tickets. Internet connection were really bad and we couldn´t by the tickets. We had to ask a friend in Finland to book the flights. Finally after beeing really nervous of the returning back home we got the the tickets.

At the last day in Istanbul airport Heidi saw that she had lost her vallet. After 15 minutes she founded the vallet on her luggage. Those 15 minutes were terrible. After 2 hours when we arrived to center of Istanbul Nikke forget his gredit card to the ATM.

At the car on the way to airport we realised that one mobile phone left in to the room. After one kid were crying and shouting 10 minutes way to the airport. We found the mobile.
We had connection flight thourgh Kiova. At the airport on security checking again one mobile was losted. Again we were lucky and we found it.

The best

It is nice to travel, see new places, meet people but the moments at pool

and beach were the best.

Happy and Safe at home

Trip in Turkey was good experience and the country and people were really nice. We haven’t met any rude Turkish man! When you ask something like where is the closest mc Donalds, they smile and tell you the route and usually also take you there!

We got back home safe and happy. All the major things, mobiles, luggages came home with us.

It gets several days to get used to back to every day life, school and cold weather, but  we had really nice trip and after 11 day holiday we are more than thankful for the holiday what we got as a present. Now it is time to get back to routines.

  1. Hei. Luin blogin ja jäin vain ihmettelemään, että millä varoin teette esim ulkomaanmatkat? En kysy ilkeyttäni, vaan aidosti kiinnostuneena.
